PLEASE REBLOG THIS!
One of the best Tumblr blogs for photography lovers, mpdrolet, was shut down today, probably on account of three copyright strikes.
Mark Peter Drolet is an excellent photo editor, and has been sharing excellent photographs exposing and promoting the work of photographers from around the world to his thousands of followers, making our dashboards a beautiful place to spend time on.
Even if there was a copyright violation, we hope that this can be solved on a case by case basis, without having to delete mpdrolet’s archive altogether, and letting Mark keep on updating his Tumblr.
Please reblog this to ask the Tumblr staff to #BringMPDroletBack!
Mark was one of the people that made tumblr a great place to share images. His blog was a great equaliser in the world of photography, displaying images on merit, rather then the photographers position in the art world. It was one of the few places where you could see the work of an unknown photographer in Devon next to work by an established master of their craft.
I am sure that I am not the only photographer who reacted with delight when one of their images was featured by him.
His blog was also a great view in to the mind of a picture editor, as you saw themes and tangents develop, often initially appearing to be random, but always coherent and well thought out.
The deletion of his blog is a great loss not only to the photographic community, but to tumblr itself, and the creators and curators who use it.
